The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a song that sounds remarkably like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. A radio station played the Chili Peppers' “Dani California” at the same time as Tom Petty's “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” to demonstrate the songs' strikingly similar chord progressions and rhythms.
While the comparison between the two songs may not be faulty, the first sentence contains a grammatical faulty comparison. It is not logical to compare a song to a band. Songs should be compared to songs.

The sentence compares "a song" to "one by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers." This comparison is logical. The sentence is correct.

whatta ya mean who the hell cares!!!!!???? I fucking care! I like the RHCP, but this comparison is simply embarrasing for a group of their status. its getting harder to be original cause so much has been done already, but at least don’t make it sound so obviously the same….there’s already so much shitty, empty, brain damaging music out there, its a fucking shame how low we got over the past let’s say 60 years. AAAAh, I’m working myself into a frenzy again here, I’m going……peace out!

Dont care at all for the singing group, but the peppers saved my life.
I cured myself of my own Stage 4 cancer in two weeks…nine years ago.
I used hot peppers, garlic and cod liver oil.

As the post mentions, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers is a band. Therefore the sentence should read: “The Red Hot Chilli Peppers HAS released a song that sounds remarkably like one by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.”
